마리아 그라치아 키우리, 디올에서 사임 공식발표 

크리스찬 디올은 목요일 짧은 공식 성명을 통해, 마리아 그라치아 키우리(@mariagraziachiuri)가 여성복 아티스트 디렉터 자리에서 물러난다고 발표했습니다. 이에 마리아 그라치아 키우리는  “세대를 아우른 여성 아티스트들과 함께한 여성 패션, 자랑스럽습니다” 라고 소감을 밝히기도 했습니다.

그녀는 지난 9년간 디올을 변혁적으로 이끌었으며, 재임 기간 동안 매출은 네 배로 성장했습니다. 그러나 최근 글로벌 럭셔리 수요 급감의 여파로 브랜드 역시 큰 타격을 입은 상황입니다.

후임으로는 전 로에베(Loewe) 크리에이티브 디렉터 조나단 앤더슨(Jonathan Anderson)이 유력하게 거론되고 있습니다. 앤더슨은 오는 6월 27일 파리 패션위크 기간 중 디올 남성복 아티스틱 디렉터로서 첫 컬렉션을 선보일 예정입니다.

앞으로 마리아 그라치아 키우리가 패션계에서 어떤 길을 걸을지는 아직 밝혀지지 않았습니다. 평소 연극과 무용에 깊은 애정을 가져온 그녀는 당분간 2020년에 인수한 로마의 극장 테아트로 델라 코메타(Teatro della Cometa)의 재개장 작업에 집중할 것으로 예상됩니다.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Officially Steps Down from Dior

Christian Dior officially announced on Thursday that Maria Grazia Chiuri (@mariagraziachiuri) is stepping down from her role as Artistic Director of Women’s Collections.
In a brief statement, Chiuri shared her thoughts: “I’m proud of the fashion I’ve created with women artists across generations.”

Over the past nine years, she led a transformative era at Dior, during which the brand’s revenue quadrupled. However, recent global declines in luxury demand have hit the house hard.

Jonathan Anderson, former Creative Director of Loewe, is currently seen as the leading candidate to succeed Chiuri. He is set to present his first collection as Dior’s Artistic Director of Menswear during Paris Fashion Week on June 27.
